Please sign our Pledge and help build support for the cricket and climate movement.

From fires in Australia to floods in Bangladesh and cyclones in the West Indies, cricket-playing nations are on the front line of this crisis. Some have contributed very little towards global carbon emissions but are among the worst affected. Cricket is also a contributor to the climate emergency.

As cricket lovers, we want to be part of the solution.

Do you?

The Individual Pledge

  • We will raise awareness of the climate emergency amongst the cricket community, striving to improve our knowledge and to help implement practical solutions.

  • We will cut down on meat and dairy, use sustainable transport when available, recycle, buy less and reuse more.

  • We will encourage cricket administrators to avoid sponsorships with companies that contribute to the climate crisis.

  • We will demand that governments take the courageous steps recommended by scientists globally.

  • We will build on the supportive culture in our cricketing communities to uphold the spirit of the game in all our actions and move towards a fairer future.

The Club Pledge

  • We will reduce our club’s carbon footprint by encouraging lift-sharing, cycling, walking and public transport.

  • We will eliminate single-use plastics, make tap water readily available, use reusable glasses, crockery and cutlery. We will share and pass on equipment where possible.

  • We will make space for nature. This can be as simple as leaving areas unmown and untidy. We will plant wild flowers and trees, perhaps vegetables to help our community, install insect, bird and bat boxes. Encourage players and members to pick up litter around the ground.

  • We will reduce the footprint of our clubhouse and equipment. This could involve signing up to a green energy tariff, installing green energy technology, upgrading insulation or considering rainwater harvesting systems.
